3-Year-Old Girl Drowns In Antioch

The drowning of a 3-year-old girl was reported in Antioch this afternoon, a Contra Costa County fire official said.

UPDATED 6:30PM-

A baby girl who was reported as possibly drowning in Antioch this afternoon has been pronounced dead, the Contra Costa County coroner's office confirmed.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District initially responded at about 1 p.m. to a report that a toddler had possibly drowned in the 1900 block of Evergreen Avenue.

Responding fire crews found Antioch police officers already giving the girl CPR, Fire Inspector Steve Aubert said.

She was then taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center but later died.

ANTIOCH - A possible drowning of a 3-year-old child was reported in Antioch this afternoon, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District inspector said.

Fire crews responded at 1 p.m. to a report of a possible drowning in the 1900 block of Evergreen Avenue and found Antioch police officers already giving the child CPR, Fire Inspector Steve Aubert said.

The child was taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center, Aubert said. 

He did not know the child's condition and more information about the case was not immediately available.
