Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Officers from several local law enforcement agencies converged on Mt. Diablo State Park after park officials interrupted a suspected bicycle thief at the Summit Visitor Center Saturday. He hopped in his Chevy S10 and took off down the mountain. Officers from Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County Sheriff's Deputies took up the pursuit south on Castle Rock Road until the suspect crashed near the Pine Canyon nature walk and apparently abandoned his truck. According to a witness, by the time police got to him, the guy was long gone but he dropped his wallet so they will find him soon. (News 24/680)
- The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will not meet in their gleaming new state-of-the-art hearing room in the new $95 million Contra Costa County Administration Building until January, if then. On Tuesday, on a 4-0 vote, supervisors approved its second consecutive order recommended from County Counsel Mary Ann Mason to extend, at least through December, the teleconference public meeting order that applies to all county governmental entities. (Contra Costa Herald)
- As part of ongoing development of the Community Benefits Program for the proposed Delta Conveyance (tunnel) Project, the Department of Water Resources is holding a virtual workshop on Wednesday, November 17th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm to hear and learn from representatives of several different example community benefits programs around the country. Members of the local Delta community are encouraged to attend. (Contra Costa Herald)
- At 9:21 pm Saturday, the Oakley Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Malicoat Ave in the City of Oakley. Upon arriving on scene, police located three people who had been struck by gunfire. A short time later, a 4th victim was located. According to police, two people were confirmed deceased on scene while two others were wounded and transported to a local hospital. The suspect was also taken into custody. (East County Today)
- During its November 15 meeting, the Pittsburg City Council is set to vote on whether or not to approve a Home2Suites Hotel project in the city of Pittsburg. The project has already been approved by the Planning Commission. If approved by the council, the 2.09-acre vacant lot located at 2112 Loveridge Road will be turned into a 115-room four-story hotel.
