- One of the winning Fantasy 5 Lottery Jackpot tickets was sold at the Village Market on Main Street in downtown Clayton. Check your tickets. The winning numbers were 3, 6, 9, 36 and 39. If you have a winner, it's worth $7,660. (Claycord.com)
- Hey, Concord, did you know you live in a Tree City USA? It's true. The City of Concord has been named a Tree City USA for the 40th consecutive year. This honor comes from the Arbor Day Foundation to honor Concord's commitment to effective urban forest management. Why not celebrate by going out and having a picnic under one of those beautiful canopies? (Claycord.com)
- A series of fires lit up the night sky along I-680 at Pacheco Boulevard early Saturday. Several patches of roadside grass were reported burning at approximately 12:35 a.m. Investigators are still looking for the cause of the blazes. (News 24/680)
- The City of Concord, Concord Art Association has decided to extend the deadline for design submissions for Phase III of the Concord Utility Box Art Project. If you're an artist, there is still time to submit your ideas for beautifying these utilitarian objects. Organizers expect to announce the new deadline soon, most likely in late May or early June. And, if you've already submitted a design, you can revise it if you like. I'm excited to see what people come up with! It's a great way to turn an eyesore into eye candy! (Pioneer Publishers)
- Contra Costa County is having a block party! You can join your neighbors for music, food and... you can adopt a kitty and register to vote? Yep! This is a special block party, where a bunch of county services will be there ready to help you with everything from library cards to Medi-Cal. Antioch is hosting this year at the Antioch Water Park Community Room, 4701 Lone Tree Way, on Thursday, May 5 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. Don't miss this opportunity to get all of your civic chores out of the way and have some fun doing it! - Live at the Orinda! concert series presents Christine Andreas May 22. A two-time Tony-nominated singer and actress, Andreas has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center to London's West End. This fun and educational event will walk you back through time and educate you about Antioch's early settlers and point out sites of historical significance. There are two times to choose from.
