Community Invited To 9/11 Memorial Display At Con Fire Station 11
The memorial, which is illuminated at night, is open to the public through Sept. 13.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District invites the community to visit its 9/11 memorial display on the front lawn of Fire Station 11 at 6500 Center Street in Clayton.
The memorial honors the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice 20 years ago this week on Sept. 11, 2001.
At the display, visitors will see the names and many of the faces plus learn about the lives of the 343 New York City firefighters, along with 72 others, including officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New York City Police, New York State Courts and the New York City Fire Patrol, and eight private emergency medical technicians, who died that day. Each flag has a name attached and many of the flags also include how these lives are remembered by others.

The display is open now through Monday, Sept. 13.
Con Fire invites community members looking for a way to remember the events of that day and honor its victims to walk among the flags, see the names and learn about these heroes.
