Concord Police Arrest Two on Prostitution Charges
They responded to a complaint from hotel clerk on Clayton Road.

Concord police have arrested a couple of people on suspicion of using a local hotel room as a site for prostitution.
Charged early Wednesday with loitering with intention of prostitution was Nancy Schaumkel, 19, of Antioch. Charged with aiding and abetting prostitution was Lawrence Barton, 24, of Oakland.
A clerk from the Best Western Inn on Clayton Road had reported a suspicion that the pair were using one of the rooms for prostitution.

When officers arrived late Tuesday night, the pair had just left in a vehicle, said Concord Police Lt. Bill Roche. Officers located the vehicle nearby at Claycord Avenue and Olive Drive, questioned the two and made the arrest at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Concord police have been proactive in educating hotel clerks about signs to watch for that indicate prostitution, Roche said.
