Here are the top five stories in Concord today:
- BART has suspended its Red Line service between Richmond and MacArthur Stations "for a few days" due to power issues experienced in the section, a spokesperson for BART said on Tuesday evening. Crews will be working "continuously" to mitigate the issue and restore service, the transit agency said. Passengers attempting to get from Richmond to MacArthur Stations should use the Orange Line. - Last year's singer-songwriter showcase hosted by the Concord Couch Concerts (CCC) team is returning this Spring - now on Sundays from 2PM to 4PM. "Singer-Songwriter Sunday" series will see several local artists, each performing roughly 20 minutes of entirely original music. The first of these mostly acoustic concerts will take place on April 3 at 2PM in Todos Santos Plaza and include performances by some CCC favorites. The event is made possible by a partnership with Todos Santos Business Association Arts Foundation. All featured artists are performing on a volunteer basis for the sheer love of celebrating local original music. While tips are of course welcome, there is no cost of admittance to this community event. (Pioneer Publishers)
- The Economic Development Departments of East Contra Costa County cities of Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, and Pittsburg are collaborating on an economic development initiative to help residents "Cut the Commute." The team is asking residents to identify their commute destination and other information in a one-minute survey so they can then target businesses with a high concentration of employees in the region to consider expanding or relocating to East Contra Costa County. Respondents are invited to take the one-minute-long online survey by March 18 at https://CutTheCommute.Net (East County Today)
- Moody's Investors Service has assigned an Aa3 rating to Mount Diablo Unified School District, CA's General Obligation Bonds, 2018 Election, Series B. Moody's maintains Aa3 ratings on the district's outstanding general obligation unlimited tax (GOULT) bonds and an A1 issuer rating on the district. The A1 issuer rating reflects the district's above average resident income profile and growing property values, balanced by ongoing enrollment declines. The rating also incorporates the district's satisfactory financial position supported by state aid that held the district harmless for enrollment losses in fiscal 2021 and 2022 and management's sturdy cost controls and approved staffing reductions to ensure balanced operations outside of one-time revenues. - The Contra Costa County Public Works Department will be performing guardrail repair work on Vasco Road in Brentwood. Work will begin on Monday, March 14 through Thursday, March 17. The work will occur between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. Work will take place between Camino Diablo Road and the Alameda County Line. Message boards will be posted to advise drivers the week before scheduled work begins. Drivers should expect delays. (East County Today)
