CONCORD, CA — What qualities should the next Concord police chief bring to the job? If you've got any opinions, the city wants your input: Concord is launching a community survey to gather residents' thoughts about what the City Manager should consider when hiring the next top cop.

The city of Concord is working with a recruiting firm to fill the role, being vacated by Chief Guy Swanger, who is retiring after nine years leading the department. Applications are open until Dec. 9, with the goal of hiring a new chief by spring of 2020.

A Spanish survey is also available.
