Concord Woman Accused In Wrong-Way 1-680 Crash That Killed 2: CHP
A 27-year-old Concord woman is suspected of driving under the influence in the collision on I-680 in the Danville area.
EAST BAY, CA — A Concord woman was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter in a wrong-way crash early Sunday in which two people died, the California Highway Patrol said. The collision happened around 3:45 a.m. on Interstate Highway 680 near El Pintado Road near Danville.
The CHP received a report that a wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-680; the wrong-way vehicle, a 2020 Ford Fusion, then collided head-on with a 2012 Honda Civic, killing the two people in the car on impact, according to the CHP.
The CHP and other emergency personnel found both the driver of the Civic, a 46-year-old Antioch woman, and her passenger, a 26-year-old Antioch man, dead upon arrival.

Officers found the Fusion driver, identified by the CHP as Camille Veraanne Kimball, 27, of Concord, nearby, and suspected she was impaired. She was taken to John Muir Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
While at the hospital, Kimball was arrested suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, the CHP said.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office is expected to identify the two Antioch residents once their next of kin are notified.
The CHP is continuing its investigation of the crash, and believes that shortly after the wrong-way collision, a secondary crash happened with a third car that did not result in injuries.
