Condo-Fire Victim ID'd By Contra Costa Coroner
The 70-year-old lost her life and about 12 individuals were displaced in the fire on Farm Lane in Martinez.

MARTINEZ, CA – A woman who died in a fire at a condominium building in Martinez earlier this month has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 70-year-old Sherry Drebitt.
Firefighters responded shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 20 to a fire in an upstairs unit of a 12-unit condo building on Farm Lane, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Marshal Robert Marshall said.
Crews found Drebitt, a Martinez resident, inside the unit and pronounced her dead after taking her out of the building, Marshall said.

The flames were extinguished by about 7:50 a.m. and were contained to the one unit. Marshall said it caused about $600,000 in damage and displaced up to 12 people in four units at the complex
A firefighter suffered a minor medical emergency while battling the blaze and was taken to a hospital but was quickly released, Marshall said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but Marshall said it is not considered suspicious.
