CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — No structures were damaged and there were no injuries reported in a brush fire that burned 30 acres Monday in the Brentwood and Discovery Bay area, according to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District.

The blaze was first reported at about 4 p.m. in the 7000 block of Orwood Road, fire district Fire Marshal Steve Aubert said.

He said around 8 p.m. the fire had burned 100-plus acres but that was later revised.

Wind drove the fire, which was extinguished with the help from aircraft dropping water on the left flank. The right flank was allowed to burn until it reached water.

Cal Fire assisted with ground and air crews, and said those were released at 9:30 p.m. when the fire was contained.
