Here are the top five stories in Concord today:

  1. A wind advisory has been issued for the North Bay Mountains, East Bay Hills and northern Diablo Range from early Tuesday morning through Thursday morning. Winds of 15 to 35 mph will be possible with gusts 45 to 60 mph. Isolated gusts in excess of 60 mph will be possible in the highest peaks and ridges across theses areas, including Mt. Diablo. (Claycord.com)
  2. Twenty ceremonies will be held on the CSU Hayward campus from May 12–15 to recognize Cal State East Bay graduates (including Concord Campus students) from the years 2020–2022. The organizers consulted with students, deans, and department heads to choose the best way to celebrate this year's more than 5,000 graduates, who had been struggling with the pandemic for the previous two years. Each of the ceremonies will welcome between 35 and 500 graduates. Some celebrations will be divided between graduate programs and undergraduate programs, while other universities will celebrate specific departments. (Concord News Journal)
  3. Dublin's Nikhil Sakthirajan qualified to become an Eagle Scout at a Board of Review, held by the Twin Valley District of Scouts BSA. His Court of Honor was held on December 22, 2021. He is a member of Troop 904 sponsored by John Knox Presbyterian Church. For his Eagle project, Nikhil renovated the Cottonwood Creek K-8 School's Garden in Dublin for ease of maintenance and drought tolerance. (Pleasanton Weekly - Subscription may be required)
  4. The Oakley Police Department announced Monday that locating Alexis Gabe is its top priority. The police received a call of a missing person under suspicious circumstances on January 27, 2022. The Oakley Police Department has not identified any suspects in the case, however, it has recovered her vehicle with keys in the ignition. The police department is asking the community to report any credible sightings of Gabe, or any information that will lead to her discovery by calling the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060.
