Driver Dies When Truck Flips, Hits Tree On Highway 4 In Pittsburg

A person died when their vehicle crashed into a tree Sunday afternoon on eastbound state Highway 4 in Pittsburg.

PITTSBURG - A person died when their vehicle crashed into a tree Sunday afternoon on eastbound state Highway 4 in Pittsburg, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was first reported at 4:06 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4 just west of Loveridge Road.

The CHP said officers responded and found a 45-year-old man in a silver Nissan Titan truck.

The man had suffered massive trauma as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead the scene.

Witnesses told officers the Nissan was traveling eastbound on the highway at a high rate of speed and lost control attempting to make a right turn.

The truck then veered across all lanes into the right shoulder where it hit the curb and flipped several times before colliding with a tree.

The CHP said it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this incident and the name of the deceased would be withheld until next of kin was notified.
