Here are the top five stories today in Concord:
- DUI is suspected to be a factor in a fatal rollover crash late Sunday night on state Highway 4 near Antioch, the California Highway Patrol said. The crash involved one car, a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser, and was reported at 11:50 p.m. Sunday on eastbound SR-4 near state Highway 160. Four people were injured and one was pronounced dead at the hospital. "Our preliminary investigation indicates the Chrysler was traveling eastbound on SR-4, at a speed yet to be determined, when the driver allowed the vehicle to veer to the right completely off the roadway," the CHP said. "The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence but ultimately released to the hospital to be treated for her injuries sustained in the collision." (Concord Patch)
- The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors took up several spending initiatives at their meeting on Tuesday. Agenda items were centered on the CARES program, Sheriff's department staffing in unincorporated areas, increasing wages for county employees, wellness programs for African American residents and tenant legal services. - Clayton Valley Charter High School Junior Kyle Hetherton is organizing a food drive at Diamond Terrace senior-living community in Clayton. From now until May 14, the public will be able to donate non-perishable food to the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano through bins at the Diamond Terrace, which is located at 6401 Center St. (Claycord.com)
