🌱Explore The Night Sky In Martinez + Get The Clipper Card App
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

Hello and happy Thursday! I'm back in your inbox this warm morning to walk you through everything you need to know about what's happening in Concord. Today's issue includes updates on...
- The Antioch Police needs your help to identify a homicide victim.
- Get paid job training from St. Vincent de Paul.
- The White Pony Express Star Program is back for its third year and you can help make someone's holiday special!
But first, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 86 Low: 52.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Concord Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- The National Park Service is putting on a literally stellar program at the John Muir National Historic Site (NHS) in Martinez on October 26. You can use their telescopes to check out the night sky and learn all about what you see. The event is free and no registration is required. There will even be crafts for the kids to express what they're seeing and learning. I'm in! (Claycord.com)
- The supply chain mess is even impacting our ability to get Clipper Cards for public transit! The plastic shortage means there's a shortage of cards, so the Metropolitan Transportation Commission encourages you to put your card information on your mobile phone. Do this and your $3 new card fee will be waived. The "online Clipper apps can be accessed via Google Play, Apple iPhone 8 or Apple Watch Series 3." (Claycord.com)
- The Antioch Police Department needs your help to identify a victim that was found deceased on the Mokelumne Trail between Gentrytown Drive and Lucena Way. ""Unfortunately, due to the severity of her sustained burns, we are having difficulty identifying her," Police Information Officer Darryl Saffold said in a news release. Published pictures show jewelry that the victim was wearing when she was found. Police ask anyone with information about her identity to contact the Antioch Police Department non-emergency line at (925) 778-2441, Detective Whitaker at wwhitaker@antiochca.gov / 925-779-6890, or text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word ANTIOCH. (Concord Patch)
- St. Vincent de Paul is running a paid part-time job training program, aimed at helping folks find jobs and be successful in the workplace. Topics include resume writing, interviewing and stress management. Training is offered in Brentwood, Pittsburg or Pleasant Hill, and you must be at least 18 years old. Learn more and download an application here. To RSVP for a session call (925) 439-5060 or email info@svdp-cc.org. (East County Today)
- The White Pony Express Star Program is back this year! "Each star is hand-decorated and lists a specific item needed by an adult or child experiencing challenges" on it. I love this holiday program because the White Pony Express will come by and pick up the item, wrap it beautifully and then deliver it to the person who needs it. To request your Star Program Kit, contact Mandy at mandy@whiteponyexpress.org or call 925-322-0604 Option 4. (East County Today)
