Fatal Contra Costa Crash Investigated: CHP
Three cars were involved in the crash early Monday on state Highway 4 near Willow Pass Road.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A crash early Monday on state Highway 4 near Willow Pass Road near Concord claimed the life of one person, the California Highway Patrol said.
Around 12:41 a.m., the Contra Costa CHP was notified of the collision on eastbound SR-4, east of Willow Pass Road.
A yellow Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound approaching a white Honda Accord that was also traveling eastbound. While passing the Accord, the Camaro collided with the side of the Accord. The driver of the Accord stopped on the shoulder and the Camaro continued east, the CHP said.

A short distance later, a blue Chevrolet Suburban, also traveling eastbound, collided with the back of the Camaro.
The driver of the Camaro suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Accord was not injured and the driver of the Suburban suffered minor injuries.
The collision remained under investigation this week; anyone who witnessed it or the events leading up to it was asked to contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
