  4. How many of you guys had Joel Bartlett as a consistent dinner guest like I did? He was on TV as the weather guy through many of my dinners in the '80s. Sadly, Joel passed away late Thursday evening at his ranch in Sonoma County at the age of 81. On Wednesday, the day before Bartlett died, San Francisco Mayor London Breed proclaimed the day "Joel Bartlett Day" honoring him with an official city proclamation highlighting his career achievements and involvement in the Bay Area community. If you're having a difficult time picturing him, check out the picture in this article with him, Dave McElhatton, Wendy Tokuda and Wayne Walker from back in the day. (SF Gate)
  5. Early Thursday morning, a fire broke out at an Applebee's restaurant in Antioch after someone hurled an accelerant through a restaurant window. It is not clear what kind of accelerant was used, but the restaurant was closed temporarily for repairs. Authorities said they are optimistic that the person responsible for this incident will be soon apprehended. They are also asking anyone with surveillance cameras in the area to step forward.
