CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A Contra Costa County firefighter put his training, education and experience to good use Wednesday when he delivered his own baby daughter on the side of the road.

After the roadside delivery, Firefighter Karl Taugher called for backup from Con Fire Engine 22 and AMR Medic 3, who assisted with further transportation to the hospital.

"While Karl may have delivered his daughter, he's the first to admit that his wife did all the work and was the real MVP," Con Fire Spokesperson Steve Hill said. "Way to go D!"
