Here are the top five stories in Concord today:

  1. Two armed men robbed the Wells Fargo bank branch at 699 Contra Costa Boulevard, at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, getting away in a white Infiniti, license plate 7LAZ865 with tinted windows. Anyone with information is urged to call Concord police. No one was hurt during the encounter. (News 24/680)
  2. Assemblyman Tim Grayson, D-Concord, has introduced sales tax exemption legislation to attract growth in production jobs to California. Grayson developed Assembly Bill 1951 in partnership with the California Manufacturers & Technology Association to develop the state's Manufacturing Attraction and Development Exemption. It is designed to eliminate the sales tax on manufacturing equipment purchases, in most cases. The tax incentive will be formally titled California Made Exemption. Thirty-eight states currently either have sales and use tax exemptions on manufacturing equipment, or have no sales tax at all, which can only be seen as a competitive disadvantage for California, the release states. 3. Concord police are investigating the theft of a vehicle that was stolen at gunpoint by a carjacker early Thursday morning. The owner was uninjured. Police said the stolen vehicle was a silver Kia Soul with a license plate that starts with "7RBT." The last time the vehicle was seen it was turning right onto Clayton Road from the Clayton Gardens apartments parking lot. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Concord Police Department. (Concord News Journal)
  4. On September 19, 2021, shortly before 6:30 A.M., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the 7-11 store at 4600 Century Boulevard regarding a shooting. As officers arrived, they located a car parked in front of the business with two women inside. Both women were suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso and, unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries. Detectives identified 28-year-old Lonnie Stewart of Antioch, 22-year-old Destiny Boyd of Sacramento, and 20-year-old Jordan Pierre Crear of Antioch as being involved in the incident. Last week, the DA charged all three subjects for murder with enhancements. Boyd was arrested late last week in Elk Grove and is currently in custody on $3,000,000 bail. Wednesday, Crear was located and arrested at his home in Antioch and remains in custody with a $7,000,000 bail. A $3,000,000 warrant is issued for Stewart, and detectives are working to locate him. 5. At approximately 3:30 pm Friday, the Oakley Police Department observed a male driver who was driving erratically in a vehicle that was stolen from an employee at Sutter Delta Hospital. Officers gave pursuit into the City of Antioch where the vehicle struck a cement barrier. After the crash, the male bailed and made his way on foot to Yellowstone Drive. Dispatch reported several people had called reporting a male who had matched Oakley Police description was then trying to get into a home. Officers arrived on scene and took the male into custody at gunpoint without incident. (East County Today)
