ID Theft Arrest Leads To Big Recovery
Stolen mail, altered checks, a stolen laptop and more were recovered in Contra Costa County.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A woman pulled over in Discovery Bay early Tuesday morning and was arrested after a Contra Costa County sheriff's deputy learned she had a warrant for her arrest for identity theft, sheriff's officials said.
The deputy pulled over Sarah Potter, 41, of Hayward, in the 4000 block of Regatta Drive and then determined she had a $220,000 warrant for an identity theft case in Alameda County.
A subsequent search of Potter's vehicle found suspected stolen mail and gift cards, altered checks, a stolen laptop and various official documents such as tax forms and Internal Revenue Service vouchers, sheriff's
officials said.

Potter was booked into the county jail under $260,000 bail on suspicion of forgery and receiving stolen property, as well as the arrest warrant.
