International Space Station Visible in Tuesday and Thursday Bay Area Skies

Let's face it, for some of us, this is the closest we'll get to this space station. So, check it out — but you only have 20 seconds to see it.

Stargazers and space enthusiasts could have a chance to see the International Space Station in the skies above the Bay Area Tuesday night.

Weather permitting, the space station will be visible in the northwest sky at 7:32 p.m Tuesday and 7:17 p.m. Thursday.

It will look like a bright star moving more slowly than an airplane, according to NASA Ames Research Center.

The space station, which is around 220 miles above the earth's surface, will appear from the west and set in the southeast Thursday.

NASA has an iPhone app that tracks the current position of the space station and helps viewers locate it and other spacecraft orbiting earth.
