  3. Recently Delta Bowl has been a repeated target of vandals who have broken the front door with BB guns three times over the last two months. The Antioch Chamber of Commerce was happy to visit the staff of Delta Bowl and owner Ken Melton with a check for $1,000 to let them know that the business community appreciates their work and wants to help them overcome the needless crime. The Antioch Chamber of Commerce cares program recently received a generous donation from Assemblymember Jim Frazier making awards like these possible. (East County Today)
  4. The California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) Division 52 – Diablo Vista awarded $150 grants to 16 teachers from school districts in Contra Costa County to use in their classrooms. CalRTA Diablo Vista has awarded teacher grants annually. Teachers who wanted to be considered had to submit an application along with a one-page summary of the project the grant would help fund. The criteria for winning projects included defined educational goals, creativity and enthusiasm for the project. (East County Today)
  5. Jaden Rashada, the high school quarterback for the Pittsburg Steelers, has signed a four-figure agreement to promote the Athletes in Recruitment app on social media. Rashada is believed to be the first high-school football player to get an endorsement deal. (Concord News Journal)

  • PG&E reminds you that while many are aware of the potential for online shopping scams, the same danger exists for utility bill scams, where scammers will demand payment to prevent immediate disconnection. Customers should never purchase a prepaid card to avoid service disconnection or shutoff. PG&E does not specify how customers should make a bill payment and offers a variety of ways to pay a bill, including accepting payments online, by phone, automatic bank draft, mail or in person.
  • Livermore Arts has two music acts coming together Jan. 20 as Joan Osborne and the Weepies take the stage at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First St. in Livermore. Osborne is known for her gritty, blues-based rock sound, passionate performance and emotionally evocative songwriting. The American indie band the Weepies have sold more than a million records over 10 years but are performing their final shows in January before moving on to other creative projects.
