Jet-Ski Capsize Ends In Tragedy: Contra Costa County Sheriff
A 2-hour rescue effort to find a jet skier who capsized near dock ends in tragedy and an investigation.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A deadly weekend jet-ski accident sent three people into the water and triggered a multi-agency rescue that ended in tragedy.
On Sunday afternoon, about 1:31 p.m., deputies from the Delta Station and Marine Patrol found an overturned jet ski and two people at the Discovery Bay Marina launch ramp.
The jet-ski had flipped over at the launch ramp, sending three people into the water, according to Contra Costa County Sheriff reports.

Two adults swam to a nearby dock, but a third person — unable to swim and not wearing a life jacket — disappeared under the water.
Authorities launched a search involving the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.

After roughly two hours, deputies located and recovered the missing rider, who has not been identified. Marine Patrol is now conducting a fatal vessel accident investigation.
