🌱 Jewelry Thieves Nabbed + SPCA Grant + Beautiful Mt Diablo!

Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. The East Bay SPCA received a $20,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help pet owners facing emergencies that may have led them to surrender their animals. The grant will help the SPCA's Hold for Home program provide free, temporary pet boarding and care, including medical assistance if needed. (Claycord.com)
  2. Two people were seriously injured in an early-morning crash on northbound I-680 in Pleasant Hill on Saturday, closing all northbound lanes. The injured were transported to John Muir Hospital, after firefighters extricated them from the wreckage of their car. (News 24/680)
  3. Tri Delta Transit's CEO, Jeanne Krieg, received California Transit Association's distinguished Small Operators Committee Transit Professional of the Year 2021 award. The California Transit Association gives this award to an outstanding individual who has provided strong leadership and vision to a California Transit Association Small Operator agency or made a notable contribution that benefits public transit in general.   4. The Antioch Police Department is investigating a shooting that left two people wounded Friday night in the Sycamore Square Shopping Center on Sycamore Drive and L Street. The victims' injuries are non-life threatening. Both transported themselves to a local hospital. No other information has been released. This is the 4th shooting in the City of Antioch since Nov. 10 (East County Today)
  5. Police in Fairfield have recovered $50,000 in stolen jewelry and arrested three suspects who had allegedly smashed jewelry store display cases in the Solano Town Center mall to steal the items. The suspects then fled the area with the stolen jewelry. Dominick Desouza, 19, from Antioch, and a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of robbery, police said. There were no reports of any injuries. (Claycord.com)
