- A convicted felon is accused of waving a gun at a truck driver Monday morning in Concord while yelling that people "get shot for driving like that," police said. The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. when the trucker stopped at a red light. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe towing another vehicle pulled up beside the truck driver. The Tahoe driver then produced a black semi-automatic handgun. The truck driver called police and provided a description of the Tahoe, which officers found in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. A black handgun was found behind the back seat of the Tahoe; officers also found a .38-caliber revolver in the bed of the Chevrolet Tahoe. After the truck driver positively identified the suspect, he was arrested and booked into the Martinez jail. (Concord Patch)
- Pacific Gas & Electric is launching the first wave of a multibillion dollar initiative to bury 10,000 miles of distribution lines in areas of high risk of wildfires in Northern and Central California. The project is part of a wildfire mitigation plan to be submitted to the California Public Utilities Commission on Feb. 25. Officials with the utility giant made the announcement of the first wave last week, which aims to place nearly 3,600 miles of power lines underground. The estimated cost is nearly $4 million per mile, officials said. (Claycord.com)
