Hi all! I'm back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town. Including:

  • A carjacking victim in Antioch is recovering from a gunshot wound.
  • It's sheep-shearing time at Ardenwood Historic Farm!
  • Dublin rewarded outstanding volunteers in the community at a ceremony on March 1.

Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Check out this car-b-que! It's a vehicle that caught fire on Kirker Pass Road on Saturday. The fire started around 4:00 p.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. (Claycord.com)
  2. A male victim with at least one gunshot wound was found by Antioch police at the Twin Creeks Apartments on James Donlon Boulevard. On scene, police learned that the victim's car was carjacked just after the shooting. The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. Residents of the apartment complex are being asked to check their surveillance cameras for any possible pictures of the shooter. (Claycord.com)
  3. It only happens once per year that the sheep at Ardenwood Historic Farm are sheared of their wool, and it's coming right up! Head over there on March 18 between 11:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. to watch the sheep get their springtime haircuts. You can even watch folks at the farm spin the wool into yarn. "Fees for the event are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 62 and older, $5 for children ages 4 through 17, and free for kids three and under. Parking is free." (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. The City of Dublin awarded its Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Organization of the Year at a ceremony on March 1. The awards are meant to reward outstanding volunteers and social workers in the community. Dublin Unified School District board member Kristin Speck was recognized as Citizen of the Year. The Young Citizen award was given to Mayor's Council environmental advocacy lead Yashas Shashidhara, and student-led Dublin High leadership program Above and Beyond Leadership Education was the recipient of Organization of the Year.
