Kitchen Fire Leads To Concord Restaurant Evacuation

The fire department was called to the restaurant at about 11:30 a.m.

CONCORD, CA -- A kitchen fire at the International House of Pancakes restaurant at 4619 Clayton Road Saturday morning resulted in the evacuation of the restaurant but no injuries, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District captain said.

The fire department was called to the restaurant at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday to find a fire behind the grill in the kitchen, said Fire Prevention Capt. Steven Aubert.

Restaurant employees tried to put out the fire, he said, but couldn't, and firefighters encountered flanes when they arrived, Aubert said.
