Marsh Creek Fire Contained At 10-12 Acres, Officials Say
The grass fire broke out near the 12000 block of Marsh Creek Road in the Clayton area.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Authorities have determined the cause of a 10- to 12-acre grass fire Friday afternoon in unincorporated Contra Costa County southeast of Concord and Clayton. Assistant Contra Costa County Fire Chief Chris Bachman said the fire near the 12000 block of Marsh Creek Road was accidentally caused by a "hot round" from a shooting range.
Crews with Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire all responded to the blaze reported at about 4:15 p.m. on a slope near Mt. Diablo State Park.
Firefighters worked from the air and on the ground, and by 5:06 p.m., their efforts were successful. The fire was 90-percent contained, officials said.
