Here are the top four stories in Concord today:

  1. Today, the Martinez City Council will decide whether to spend $217,500 to kick start the process of dredging the marina for the first time since 2017. The funds, already accounted for in the city's capital improvement program budget, would go toward project design, sediment testing, and permitting requirements. The Martinez City Council will meet virtually at 7 p.m. The meeting can be viewed at https://bit.ly/32SgHHO. (Claycord.com)
  2. With the new year, the Bay Area Toll Authority reminds drivers that tolls at the region's seven state-owned toll bridges increased by $1. This is the second of the three $1 toll increases approved by the Legislature in 2017 through state Senate Bill 595 and by voters through Regional Measure 3 in June 2018. The funds collected from the additional toll will fund a $4.45 billion list of transportation improvement projects throughout the nine-county Bay Area, which includes $470 million in Contra Costa County. (Antioch Herald)
  3. The Antioch Unified School District announced Monday that students would not need a COVID-test prior to returning from the winter break. However, the District announced it has made home testing kits available. (East County Today)
  4. The Workforce Development Program at St. Vincent de Paul is a paid job training program aimed at helping the unemployed re-enter the workforce and find stable employment. The 24-week program teaches participants skills and techniques to find a job and be successful in the workplace, offering training in resume development, interviewing, and organizational skills in a supportive & compassionate environment.
