  1. A black Toyota Highlander traveling southbound on Highway 242 rear-ended a motorcyclist travelling the same direction on Tuesday night. The motorcyclist was killed in the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened about 11:12 p.m. near Willow Pass Road. (Concord Patch)
  2. Did you see the fire that lit up the sky on Craig Drive near Reed Way and Cowell Road in Concord on Wednesday night? ConFire evacuated the home and the neighboring properties as they worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control just after 7:30 p.m. (Claycord.com)
  3. Orinda named Citizen of the Year and volunteer award winners for 2022. According to theorindanews.com, "Winner of the Orinda Citizen of the Year (COY) 2022 award is Vince Dell'Aquila, for his decades of community service." Dell'Aquila has been a volunteer football coach at Miramonte for 32 years. The Orinda Volunteer Award recipients are Kent and Teresa Long. They are working to restore the Joaquin Moraga Adobe to maintain its original, historical identity. Congratulations to the recipients! There will be an awards dinner and celebration on Oct. 23 in the Founders' Auditorium at the Orinda Community Center. (theorindanews.com)
  4. The California Highway Patrol took a suspect into custody after a pursuit in Orinda Wednesday night. The driver led police on a chase in a stolen Toyota RAV4. After a collision with another car at Camino Pablo and Brookwood, police closed in on the accident scene and were able to take the driver into custody. (News 24/680)
  5. On Sept. 10, Lamorinda residents received a text that was part of a drill to test communications in the event of an emergency that would require evacuation of residents in Lafayette, Moraga and/or Orinda. According to lamorindaweekly.com, "The drill had a number of objectives. The exercise tested the Contra Costa County Community Warning System's ability to notify residents in the Lamorinda area in a simulated disaster scenario."
