🌱Pacheco Cannabis Retailer + Pumpkins & Trees + Coffee With Cops

Here's the latest edition the Concord Daily! Here's your go-to for all things going on in the area.

(Patch Media)

Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to get this day started. Here's what's happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and cool. High: 69 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Cannabis retailer STIIIZY marked the opening of its latest store in Pacheco on Saturday, October 16, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured city officials, food trucks and more. This comes on the heels of market research firm BDSA crowning STIIIZY as the #1 brand in California and the #3 selling US brand overall. This is the 20th retail store for parent company Shryne. (Valdosta Daily Times)
  2. Modern China Cafe, located at 1525 N. Main St. in Walnut Creek, was forced to close last week due to a cockroach infestation, according to the Contra Costa County Department of Environmental Health. Several infractions were observed including live cockroaches on or near cooking surfaces and "mold-like build up" in the ice machine. The restaurant has since been re-inspected and reopened. (Claycord.com)
  3. This place just looks like a party with all of the bounce houses behind the white picket fence in downtown Concord. But, really, it's TWO parties! Right now, it's a pumpkin patch. After Halloween it will be Christmas trees. The City Council granted a temporary license to ABC Tree Farms to operate a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree lot on the property bringing a holiday boost to the downtown area. (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. One man was arrested after a high-speed chase from Moraga to Lafayette early Monday with police from throughout Lamorinda teaming up to finally bring the fleeing driver to a halt. Moraga police had stopped the vehicle earlier and while interviewing the driver, he bolted. The pursuit reached speeds over 80 miles per hour. The driver faces preliminary charges of felon in possession of a firearm and felony evading. (News 24/680)
  5. Police responded in force to the Walnut Creek Cheesecake Factory Sunday after someone reportedly spotted a firearm. There were no reports of injuries or an exact number of people detained or arrested. Is it possible somebody just yelled "free cheesecake" and that caused the ruckus? Probably not, but it would have had me come a-runnin'! (News 24/680)
