Pedestrian Hospitalized With Critical Injuries After Being Hit By Car Near BART Station

Police say a car hit a person in a crosswalk near the Concord BART station, sending the pedestrian to the hospital with critical injuries.

CONCORD, CA -- A car hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk near the Concord BART station Saturday, sending the pedestrian to the hospital with critical injuries, police said today.

A woman from Placentia, Calif., driving east on Clayton Road, hit a woman from Berkeley who was walking south on Grant Street toward BART, Concord police provost Sgt. Timothy Elsberry said.

The driver, whose name was not released by authorities, stopped and cooperated with officers, Elsberry said.

The pedestrian, whose name also has not been released, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and was last reported in critical but stable condition, he said.
