Coroner Identifies Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Concord

Ayers Road was closed for three hours Wednesday as the fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision was investigated, police said.

CONCORD, CA — An 86-year-old Clayton woman struck and killed by a car Wednesday while she walked across a Concord roadway was identified Thursday by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office as YuenWah TangLo.

The fatal collision between the vehicle and pedestrian was reported at about 3:19 p.m., just north of the intersection of Ayers Road and Valley Crest Drive, Concord police Sgt. Robert Garcia said in a news release.

A vehicle heading south on Ayers Road from Clayton Road hit TangLo as she was crossing the southbound lane of Ayers mid-block, outside of the crosswalk, Garcia said.

The driver of the car, a 58-year-old Concord man, remained on scene and cooperated with the crash investigation, the sergeant said.

Ayers Road was closed between Clayton Road and Valley Crest Drive for about three hours as the crash was investigated.

"Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor," Garcia said.

Garcia said the investigation is ongoing.
