Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Concord
The fatal incident remains under investigation, according to Concord police.

CONCORD, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car Friday night in Concord. The pedestrian, – identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 23-year-old Concord man Shane Nygard Jr. – was not inside a crosswalk when he was hit at about 6:58 p.m. on Arnold Industrial Way, just east of Laura Alice Way and just north of state Highway 4, police said.
A vehicle traveling west on Arnold Industrial Way struck Nygrad, who was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Part of Arnold Industrial Way and Laura Alice Way were closed for some three hours as the fatal collision was investigated.

The involved vehicle was driven by a 71-year-old Pacheco man who stopped at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, according to police.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the collision, police said. The investigation was continuing, however, and anyone who witnessed it is asked to call Traffic Investigator Justin Wilson at the Concord Police Department at 925-671-5962.
