Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- New bike lanes and wider sidewalks are coming to Concord as part of the Downtown Corridors Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project, set to begin on Monday, March 13. Work is scheduled to continue until October, though the work adjacent to Todos Santos Plaza should wrap up by the end of April. (City of Concord, California via Facebook)

- The Concord Police Association is taking applications for its annual scholarships, which are competitive and merit-based. Outstanding seniors or transferring community college students who "attend Concord schools, are from the Concord community or dependents of active or retired Concord Police Association members" are encouraged to apply. - Several cars and a County Connection bus were involved in an accident that caused multiple injuries at Ygnacio Valley Road and Oakland Boulevard on Thursday. The accident closed the freeway off-ramp at Ygnacio Valley Road. "Five people were transported to the hospital one in critical condition, one moderate and three minor injuries." (News 24/680)
- The rains hit Pittsburg especially hard, forcing the city to close several of its roads. "We want to remind residents to... please be mindful of traffic cones and delineators to stay safe," the city said in a statement. (Contra Costa News)
