Police Investigate 2 Shootings In Concord

Witnesses are sought as police investigate two shootings reported within a 24-hour period.

CONCORD, CA — Investigations were underway in Concord into two separate shootings reported within a 24-hour period, the Concord Police Department said.

Officers responded to the first incident shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday at Monument Boulevard and Virginia Lane. There was a report of shots fired, and officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and the wound was not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect or suspects in the shooting were still outstanding as of Sunday.

The second incident was reported at shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Sunshine Drive. Several residents called in and reported there were multiple shots fired.

No one was found injured in the shooting. Police collected evidence and arrested one person was arrested on suspicion of their involvement in the shooting.

There were no immediate indications the two shootings were related, police said.

There was a significant law enforcement presence at both incidents, and police seek to speak with any possible witnesses.
