Prison Ordered For Drunk Driver Who Hit CHP Officer

Officer Martin Lendway has returned to work after recovery, but the motorist did not comply with ordered treatment, officials said.

CONCORD, CA – A woman convicted for a drunk driving crash in Concord that injured a California Highway Patrol officer in January was sentenced today to six years in prison, Contra Costa County prosecutors said.

Tammy Walker was convicted earlier this year of two felonies for the crash around 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 15 on eastbound state Highway 4 at Port Chicago Highway that injured CHP officer Martin Lendway.

Walker had a prison term suspended by Judge Barry Baskin when he granted her probation, but she was "uncooperative" when entering a treatment program that was a condition of her probation, so was rejected from the program, prosecutors said.

The district attorney's office asked for the six-year sentence in the wake of the probation violation.

Lendway was released from John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek in early February. The district attorney's office said in a Facebook post today that he "fortunately has returned to work and we wish him the best as he recovers and serves our community."
