Road-Rage Incident Leads To Arrest For Elder Abuse: Concord PD
An 18-year-old from Martinez is accused of fighting with a 70-year-old driver, even pulling a knife on the elderly person, police said.

CONCORD, CA — A road-rage incident Tuesday in Concord led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Martinez man on suspicion of assault and elder abuse, Concord police said. Officers responded to reports of a fight involving a knife in the area of Concord Avenue and Commerce Drive, and soon determined the altercation stemmed from a road-rage incident.
The suspect, an 18-year-old Martinez resident whose name was not released, was driving and got upset when the victim, a 70-year-old Walnut Creek resident, nearly collided with him, police said.
The suspect reportedly decided to throw an energy drink can at the victim through an open window, after which the victim decided to follow the suspect to try and get his license plate number.

The suspect suddenly stopped his car in the middle of the road, police said, at which point a fight broke out and the 18-year-old pulled a knife on the elderly victim, according to police.
The suspect, however, did not anticipate the victim disarming him of the knife and physically detaining him him until PD’s arrival.

Officers placed the 18-year-old under arrest on suspicion of assault and elder abuse.
Although the victim did suffer minor injuries, the incident could have been a lot more devastating, police said.
"If you believe someone is driving in a hazardous manner call the police with a description and license plate of the vehicle," Concord police officials said.
