California Wildfire Status: 4,000 Firefighters Assigned to 12+ Fires

Here is the latest fire report from Cal Fire, for Wednesday, July 6.

There are more than 4,000 firefighters assigned to more than a dozen wildfires burning across the state of California on Wednesday, the state's firefighting agency said.

Though the number of resources is great, it's actually 1,200 fewer personnel than Tuesday's commitment as containment grows on several incidents.

According to Cal Fire spokeswoman Lynn Tolmachoff, crews are hopeful that a change in the weather will continue to help them with their efforts.

"Cooler weather is expected across the state for the remainder of the week, which will assist firefighters as they continue to gain additional containment on the fire lines," she said.

However, she did caution that we're still at a strong risk for more fires.

"While the milder weather is a nice reprieve from the recent triple-digit temperatures, grasses, brush and trees remain parched and can easily ignite," she said. "Remember, One Less Spark is One Less Wildfire."
