Here are the top four stories in Concord today:

  1. The East Bay is expected to receive a tenth to two-tenths of an inch of rain into Tuesday. Along the San Francisco Bay shoreline, King tides may linger into Tuesday. Bay Area temperatures this week will be milder than they have been over the past week, with highs in the 50s to low 60s and lows in the 40s to low 50s. (Claycord.com)
  2. The City of Concord will continue the process of redistricting at a virtual public hearing at 7 p.m. Jan. 10. The city council will receive an update on city progress, receive public input, and provide initial direction to the demographer on the composition of the draft maps. Feedback can be provided verbally or via email through public comment at the meeting, or through a "community of interest" form located on the city's Redistricting website. Residents are also invited to submit their own draft maps, which are due by Jan. 18. (Claycord.com)
  3. New Danville Mayor Newell Arnerich's first Town Talk topic will be about Danville's efforts to create a new land use plan for improving its historic downtown district. The city has budgeted $75,000 and hired a consultant to lead the downtown master plan project, which will update the 1986 downtown plan and provide a 20-year blueprint for the area. Town Talk, a monthly event, will be live streamed starting at 9 a.m. Friday via Zoom. (Danvillesanramon.com/ Subscription may be required)
  4. The Pleasanton City Council on Tuesday will hold the first legally mandated public hearing before it can draw districts and switch from at-large to district elections. California law mandates the city holds at least two public meetings within 30 days of one another before any district map can be drawn. The city is encouraging the public to give its input. The Pleasanton City Council will meet virtually at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting can be viewed on the city's YouTube channel or by going to the city's Zoom channel. (Pleasanton Weekly/ Subscription may be required)
