Sports Complex Proposed For Former Concord Naval Weapons Station
Council members will be asked to select plans for both a 175-acre and a smaller 75-acre sports complex.

CONCORD, CA — The Concord City Council will be mulling the possibilities Tuesday evening for a sports complex serving youth and amateur athletes on a tract of land slated for development at the site of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. The real estate in question will be on a 2,300-acre portion of developable land on the Inland Area of the base, roughly 850 acres of which are set aside for parks and open spaces.
Council members will be asked to select plans for both a 175-acre and a smaller 75-acre sports complex that can be included in the specific plan for the development.
These plans were drafted as a result of community workshops, in which participants were able to vote for their preferred alternatives. Final decisions on the complex have not yet been made, and the city is still exploring options. Thestaff report is available online at https://bit.ly/2ImtUuq.
