A's Sticker Shock + Alamo Raging River + Likin' Lichen

Here's the latest on what's happening in Concord, delivered right to your inbox — for free!

Happy Saturday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in town today.

First, today's weather:

Hot with plenty of sunshine. High: 94 Low: 58.

Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Don't forget Mount Diablo State Park is having a 100th birthday celebration on October 16! To mark the occasion California State Parks and its partners invite the public to attend a special event at Cal State East Bay's Concord Campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn all about the park's history and wildlife with activities for the whole family. And, yes, I could have found a more local source for this news, but I thought it was pretty cool that folks in Atascadero are as excited about this event as we are! (The Atascadero News)
  2. We all know the A's are WAY better than the Giants and we want to support this East Bay tradition, right? Well... that's about to become a more expensive proposition. A's season tickets are set to DOUBLE in price for next season and some fans are questioning the value, with few upgrades to the Coliseum in recent times. Others, however, point to a need to retain players, the relative value vs. other teams of the same caliber, and the concern that Oakland might lose the A's to Las Vegas. It's tough for some fans to decide whether to shell out the extra cash, but what is clear is that the A's fans are WAY better than the Giants' fans. (OK, maybe that's just my opinion) (Claycord.com)
  3. More infrastructure problems hit Alamo early Friday morning as water rushed down streets from a broken water main. Rancho Romero elementary closed as a result as did the pre-school next door, neighbors report. This morning's failure is the third of its kind to occur in recent weeks, with another in Alamo and one in Moraga that resulted in a sinkhole. (News 24/680)
  4. Brentwood is going all out to provide a ton of Fall adventure, a bit of learning, and a whole lot of fun for the kids this season. From corn mazes to pumpkin patches, from pomegranates to pecan pies, your family can enjoy the best of what fall has to offer. Want a list of all of the ways you can enjoy fall in Brentwood? I'm so glad you asked! You can find them at this link. (East County Today)
  5. Alanis Morissette and Garbage rocked the Concord Pavilion on Wednesday night celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Morissette's breakout album Jagged Little Pill. The intro video at the concert was a fun trip down memory lane with pictures from her childhood acting career right up through Carpool Karaoke. (RIFF Magazine)
