  • Unusual activity in Lafayette caught suspected burglary witnesses' attention.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. One suspect was arrested and one is still on the loose from a shooting at a strip mall at Solano Way and Broadmoor Avenue on Tuesday. The incident left a 21-year-old dead and his stepfather wounded. Haley Sparks Hadsell, 19, of Martinez, was arrested. Sione "Ono" Amanaki, a 20-year-old man from Concord, is still wanted. "Police said Amanaki knows he is wanted for the killing and may be hiding out in Oakland." (KRON4)
  2. This last storm knocked out power to more than 10,000 customers in Concord. "As of 4 p.m. [Tuesday], there were 100,000 customers without power across the Bay Area." (Concord Patch)
  3. The same wind that knocked out power to customers in Concord knocked over a tree that hit a car on the roadway in Rossmoor. The driver sustained minor injuries, but unfortunately, the passenger in the vehicle was killed. The incident happened on on Stanley Dollar Road and the roadway was closed while crews worked to clear the tree and investigate the incident. (Claycord.com)
  4. Neighbors on Rancho View Drive in Lafayette noticed some peculiar activity on Tuesday as two vehicles seemed to case the neighborhood with two-way radios. The suspects made themselves even more obvious by dressing in black and wearing ski masks. Eventually, the suspects were seen "fleeing the area with a duffel bag containing items unknown." The incident is under investigation. (News 24/680)
