Susan Bonilla and her campaign office issued the following statement in response:

“I am appalled that BART platforms and BART property have been used for electioneering by Steve Glazer, Los Angeles billionaire Bill Bloomfield (who has spent $2 million on Steve Glazer campaign advertising), and by BART employees who were holding my campaign signs – these parties should immediately stop using BART property for electioneering, including candidate Steve Glazer who has repeatedly used internal BART property for self advertising.”

Susan Bonilla’s campaign also provided examples of dozens of uses by candidate Steve Glazer and his billionaire special interest backers, including:

  • Used BART Platforms and internal BART property for electioneering and promoting Steve Glazer’s political campaign
  • Used BART Platforms and internal BART property for campaign photo shoots
  • Used images from campaign photo shoots taken on BART Platforms and on BART internal property for self-promotional campaign advertising and direct mail
  • Used images from campaign photo shoot of candidate Steve Glazer on BART Platforms and on internal BART property on Glazer’s campaign website
  • Displayed Steve Glazer campaign signs and Steve Glazer campaign paraphernalia at BART stations

The following statement was issued from Steven Maviglio of Working Families Against Steve Glazer for Senate:

With just over a week to go in the State Senate special election, Steve Glazer will be holding a press conference this morning to (yawn) attack BART once again.

This move comes despite that fact that Glazer has said in two debates with his rival, Assemblymember Susan Bonilla, that there is “zero” chance that any bill that would ban BART strikes would pass the Legislature. You can hear him acknowledge that in the discussion last Wednesday on KQED Forum.

It’s no surprise that Glazer is trying to change the channel. His campaign has been hammered by the revelation that Koch Brothers money is flowing to help his campaign from a DC-based right-wing group that opposes Obamacare, food safety, and clean energy, among other things. Today, we have released a new TV advertisement that focuses on that contribution, as well as the $1,644,935.34 that GOP LA developer has spent in support of his campaign.

Glazer also must be concerned that the media will focus on his campaign’s pattern of issuing “letters” that instantly are turned into mail pieces by Bloomfield’s independent expenditure campaign in support of his candidacy.

Here’s how it works: Several weeks ago, a letter from his daughter was posted on Facebook. In a matter of hours, it suddenly appeared as a direct mail piece from Bloomfield’s “independent” expenditure committee. It happened again with a posting from his wife two weeks ago. And then again with a letter from Glazer himself last week.

On the aforementioned debate, Glazer said he wasn’t spending any of his campaign money on mail, TV, or radio. And why should he when there appears when LA mega-millionaires and the Koch Brothers are doing all the work for him?
