Suspected Vehicle Thief Rams Concord Cop Car: Police

BREAKING: Police say the suspect, a 21-year-old Pleasant Hill man, drove the allegedly stolen vehicle backward into a patrol car.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly ramming a patrol car while trying to flee from police in Concord late Tuesday night. Just before midnight, a car was reported stolen in the 1500 block of Monument Boulevard, and minutes afterward a police officer with a K-9 in the vehicle spotted it in the area of Waltham and Belmont roads, where it crashed into a parked car, police said.

The suspect, later identified as Pleasant Hill resident Jesse Adame, then drove the stolen car backward and rammed the patrol car, causing moderate damage, according to police.

Adame then fled on foot but was eventually arrested after a lengthy search by police with the K-9. He was taken to county jail in Martinez, police said.
