U.S. Marshals Arrest Contra Costa Co. Man Wanted For Driving Car Through Crowd

BREAKING: The Oakley man was wanted for allegedly striking two people with his car in a Contra Costa County parking lot Sept. 2.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA —A 22-year-old Oakley man suspected of running over a group of people in the Byron area of unincorporated Contra Costa County earlier this month has been apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service, sheriff's deputies said today. Antonio Morales allegedly sped his Nissan Maxima through a crowd in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Taylor Lane around 2 a.m. on Sept. 2, striking two people before fleeing the scene.

Deputies had initially been dispatched to the scene on report of a shooting.

The victims were transported to a hospital, and detectives were able to identify Morales as a suspect.

Morales was arrested Wednesday and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody on $2.3 million bail.
