UPDATE: 85-Year-Old Suspect Arrested In A Contra Costa Community Homicide
Contra Costa County Sheriff's detectives have arrested an octogenarian suspect in a double stabbing.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — An 85-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing that left a woman dead and the community they lived in rattled.
Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 4:30 p.m. to a home on the 100 block of Riverside Place in Bay Point after a call reporting a stabbing, according to authorities.
When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman with stab wounds. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity.
However, detectives have identified Rogelio Barajas Martinez, 85, of Bay Point as a suspect.

He is being held on $1 million bail at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder.
Homicide detectives continue investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing, which the Sheriff’s Office said was domestic-related.

This case marks the county’s second homicide this year, following the February shooting death of 38-year-old Edward Garofalo IV near the Oakley-Bethel Island border.
