🌱Walnut Creek Restaurant Week Underway + Burglars Hit Lamorinda

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

(Patch Media)

Hi all. It's me, Jeri Karges, your host of the Concord Daily. Let's get this week started off right, with a quick guide to the most important things happening in town these days.

First, today's weather:

Very warm with sunshine. High: 92 Low: 60.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Concord Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top five stories today in Concord:

  1. Three years after awarding the project to build 360 new homes on a North Concord BART Station parking lot to Brookfield Residential, the deal appears to be dead. The developer has walked away and provided no formal reasons for their departure, BART officials said this week. It's another example of the struggles cities are seeing to find developers who can build housing at low-income margins in the current labor and inflationary environment. (The Mercury News)
  2. Another smash-and-grab operation has hit Walnut Creek, this time in the jewelry department at Macy's. Thieves smashed the display case and made off with vintage Rolex watches and other items. Police are reportedly looking for a white Honda 4-door believed used in the getaway. (News 24/680)
  3. Beginning at 10 a.m. on June 25, the city of Clayton will hold its first Pride Parade. It will end with an event in The Grove with face painting, a photo booth and other family friendly activities. Clayton City Councilmember Carl "CW" Wolfe will act as master of ceremonies. (Pioneer Publishers)
  4. Two separate burglaries hit Lamorinda Saturday, with police using their helicopter in at least one of the incidents to help detain the suspects. In the first burglary, suspects made off with two shotguns from a garage in Orinda. Those suspects are still at large. Nothing was reported missing in the second burglary attempt, this time in Lafayette, but the suspects were nabbed. (News 24/680)
  5. Walnut Creek is celebrating Restaurant Week June 19 - 25. Walnut Creek Restaurant Week gives local and visiting foodies an opportunity to explore downtown Walnut Creek's lively dining scene. You don't need a ticket. Just visit your favorite participating establishment and try their pre-fixe menu developed specifically for the event. Click this article link to see who is participating!
