🌱 Watershed Moment in Martinez +Park Award +Halloween Happenings
Welcome to the Concord Daily! Here's your five-minute guide to everything going on in town.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Jeri Karges, your host of the Concord Daily.
Happy Thanksgiving, Concord!
First, today's weather:
Clouds breaking and cool. High: 67 Low: 54.
Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- The goblins have scared off the rain for Halloween, but starting tomorrow Mother Nature is taking over again and bringing more wet weather. It won't be as dramatic as the last storm, but get out your umbrella and galoshes when you put away your Halloween costume. (Claycord.com)
- It was a watershed moment... literally... as the culmination of a 20-year partnership between the John Muir Land Trust and the Contra Costa County Flood Control District with the cooperation of multiple other agencies resulted in a final levee break. Water rushed in to reclaim its rightful place in the 212-acre Pacheco Marsh on the Martinez shoreline and the Lower Walnut Creek watershed. $5 million has been set aside for public access with miles of trails, vistas, bird blinds, a kayak launch and education facility. The goal is to open the marsh for recreation by 2023. (Pioneer Publishers)
- Yours Humanly is holding its annual Tee Off for Education Golf Tournament on Monday, November 15, 2021, 10am—7pm, at the Rossmoor Golf Course. The golf tournament is one of three signature Yours Humanly annual fundraisers, and proceeds from the event will support Yours Humanly's mission to lift children out of poverty and other challenging situations through the power of education. - Oakley resident Laurie Roldan and friends will perform songs by the Carpenters at Lesher Center Nov. 5-14. Roldan shares personal stories and memories in an uplifting evening woven through well-known Carpenters songs in her new show Laurie Sings A Song For You. Laurie is a guest artist at many special events throughout the West and has appeared as a soloist with symphony orchestras throughout California and performed lead roles at a variety of Bay Area Theaters. - The East Bay Regional Park District has been awarded the prestigious 2021 Global Citizen Award by the United Nations Association USA, East Bay and Silicon Valley Chapters. The award recognizes the Park District's leadership role in providing essential services during the pandemic. "We are honored to be recognized for our contribution to physical health, stress relief, and mental well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Park District Board President Dee Rosario.
