🌱 Weekend Police Presence + BART Charging Stations + Mayor Sings
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

Happy Saturday, people of Concord! Here's everything worth knowing today in Concord.
First, today's weather:
Sunshine and patchy clouds. High: 66 Low: 44.
Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- The city of Clayton must plan for another 570 housing units after a Bay Area governing association rejected its appeal of a state housing mandate last week. Clayton sought to reduce it's housing allocation by about 285 units because the city has limited employment opportunities, there is not sufficient land for significant future job growth, and a significant amount of the city's land is constrained relative to future development based on environmental considerations. On Nov. 12 the administrative committee of the Association of Bay Area Governments rejected Clayton's appeal. (Concord Patch)
- The Concord Police Department will have extra officers out on patrol from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. "We want everyone to be as safe as possible, especially when they are on the road," Concord police Lt. Mark Robison said in a news release. Funding for Saturday's DUI patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. (Concord Patch)
- California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development just released its 2019 California Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Outcomes Reporting Program Report. John Muir Health's Concord Medical Center was the only hospital out of 123 in California with a performance rating of "Better than Expected" for CABG operative mortality with zero mortalities out of 173 cases. (EIN News)
- The BART Board of Directors unanimously voted Thursday to approve tentative plans to expand access to electric vehicle charging ports at the transit agency's parking lots. BART intends to place more charging ports throughout the system in anticipation of a market shift toward the increased use of electric vehicles. BART officials are expected to begin development of an implementation plan for expanding the installation of charging stations and, ultimately, return to the board for final approval. (Claycord.com)
- Grinnell, a peregrine falcon who nests with his family at University of California at Berkeley's Campanile tower, got out of the hospital and is likely on his way home. Walnut Creek's Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital said Tuesday it released Grinnell at UC's Lawrence Hall of Science in the Berkeley hills, where biologists determined Grinnell could easily find his way back to his nest. Grinnell had minor surgery on his wing and received two weeks of rehabilitation, including homecare with a volunteer species manager and falcon expert. Researchers are following Grinnell's progress to see how he's received at home by partner Annie after disappearing for a few weeks. Peregrine falcons are known to mate for life, but may find a new mate if one dies. I wonder if Annie has thrown all of his belongings out on the lawn since he neglected to call to tell her he'd be late? (Claycord.com)
