- Hunker down, Concord. It's going to be another nasty week. "There will be a chance of sub-freezing temperatures Tuesday into Thursday, with 'impactful' rain and wind potential late in the week and into the weekend," according to the National Weather Service. (Claycord.com)
- Thieves made a real mess of things at Bestoff Windows on Detroit Avenue in Concord. They stole a safe by literally ripping it out of the wall with a truck! You can see by the pictures that it's going to take a while to get everything cleaned up and put back in order. (Claycord.com)
- Senator Bill Dodd named Debbie Smith as Contra Costa County Woman of the Year. Smith was recognized due to her work with eliminating hazing from college campuses. Her son, Matt, died in a hazing incident and Smith "has channeled personal heartbreak and determination into something that will help make all of our kids safer. I am extremely grateful for her work, which is nothing short of inspiring, and am happy to recognize her for her many achievements," Dodd said. (Contra Costa News)
- Today the Clayton City Council will "consider termination of the Clayton Business and Community Association Master User Agreement." Mayor Jeff Wan requested the agenda item. The discussion will center around the cost-effectiveness of the agreement and whether taxpayers are subsidizing it. The meeting takes place at 7:00 p.m. (Contra Costa News)
- If you ride the Amtrak San Joaquins passenger rail line and bus service, and want to comment on its annual business plan, you have until March 15. The line serves Antioch, Martinez and Richmond and the deadline for its draft update is April 1, with a final version published in June. - "The East Bay Regional Park District is looking to hire over 50 new lifeguards for the 2023 swim season at its 12 East Bay swim facilities, which include lakes, lagoons, and swimming pools. All new lifeguard positions are seasonal, full-time positions from May through September. Anyone ages 16 and over before April 22, 2023, are encouraged to apply." (Contra Costa News)
- Join Antioch Police on March 11 for the Neighborhood Cleanup Program. This time the focus will be Chichibu Park, at the corner of Acorn Road and G Street in Antioch. (Antioch Herald)
